In the mid-1950s, Gutai artist Atsuko Tanaka made herself a ‘dress’ out of coloured light bulbs and electric wiring, inspired by the hidden physiological systems of the human body. She wore the dazzling, cumbersome thing to various exhibitions and happenings in Tokyo and Osaka. More here.
