After seeing the work of Lewis Baltz – the American photographer and icon of the New Topographic Movement – Katsuhiro Saiki traded in paint brush for camera. For his recent photographic series Place, the artist has used reverse bird’s eye view to depict unembellished and unspecific skyscapes featuring hints of aviation, reminding us how at any moment in time there are hundreds of thousands of people moving at speeds of tens of thousands of kilometres an hour in the sky above us.
